Geriatric care at Guardian Angels Health Center includes prevention, medical monitoring, disease management, and other treatments that help you stay as healthy as possible. If you do have a medical issue, your provider helps you properly manage it to minimize the risk of complex medical problems.

What happens during geriatric care visits?

During your appointment, friendly providers welcome you and may complete the following:

Vital signs check

Your Guardian Angels Health Center provider weighs you and checks your temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs.

Medical history review

During a medical history review, they ask about your symptoms, personal and family medical history, lifestyle habits, and current medication regimen. 

Physical exam

Your Guardian Angels Health Center provider also completes a physical exam to evaluate your overall health. They assess your eyes, ears, throat, breathing, heartbeat, vision, hearing, and more. When needed, your provider offers breast exams and pelvic exams for women, and prostate exams for men.

Diagnostics

If you need diagnostic tests, your Guardian Angels Health Center provider may suggest tissue swabs, a biopsy, blood tests, urine testing, heart or lung function tests, bone scans, X-rays, or other imaging procedures. 

Treatment

If you need treatment for any reason, your provider tailors a plan that matches your needs. They may recommend lifestyle changes, dietary supplements, over-the-counter or prescription medications, bracing, physical therapy, minor procedures, or care from a specialist. 

How often should I schedule geriatric care appointments?

Your Guardian Angels Health Center provider lets you know when to schedule your next geriatric care appointment based on your health history. Book an appointment with your primary care provider at least once yearly, more often if you have a medical issue, or any time you have concerns about your well-being.
